UT5300+ series is an instrument that integrates multiple testing functions of electrical strength (AC/DC withstand voltage) and insulation resistance. It can be widely used in the safety performance inspection of household appliances, transformers, electrical equipment and components.

How to measure voltage in withstand voltage test?

Confirm the test requirements of the relevant safety standards before testing.

Recommended voltage for general non-standard withstand voltage test = 1000V + 2 times the operating voltage (test time 60 seconds). For example, a product that works on 220V, the recommended test voltage is at least 1440V.

The withstand voltage test or high voltage test (HIPOT test) is a test used to verify the quality and electrical safety characteristics of products (such as UL, CE, VDE, CSA, TUV and other standards required by international safety agencies required )


What are the differences between withstand voltage test and insulated resistance test?

Insulated resistance test is to measure the resistance value between the conductor and the insulation layer. The greater the resistance value the better the insulation performance  Typically, the value of insulation impedance (IR) must not fall below a certain megohm (MΩ). The test is usually conducted with a DC voltage of 500V or 1000V and the results are measured in megohm resistance (MΩ).

The withstand voltage test is an insulation voltage test of insulation layer.  The withstand voltage value test value is determined by the actual used voltage level , but the added voltage is higher than that of the insulation impedance (IR) test. And depending on the different requirements, it can be performed at AC or DC voltage. The results are measured in milliamperes (mA) or microamperes (uA).


What are the differences between AC withstand voltage test and DC withstand voltage test?

AC withstand voltage test can perform voltage test immediately and basically no discharge is required  after the test. DC withstand voltage test can measured products with capacitive loads.
